| FUN AND SPORTS |
Six Flags Over Georgia is one of the South's biggest amusement parks. Ride the brand new Superman - Ultimate Flight rollercoaster. Passengers tilt forward into the flying position before climbing a 115ft hill and setting off through hair-raising spirals and loops. The park has a number of other coasters as well as live shows and nightly celebrations.
Its sister, Six Flags White Water, is a fabulous water park, while another can be found at the Lake Lanier Islands Resort (where you can also ride, golf and camp in a gorgeous lakeside setting). The Atlanta area has more than 50 public golf courses, plus plenty more at resorts such as Chateau Élan and Renaissance PineIsle. Too energetic? Grab a ticket for the Atlanta Braves (baseball), Atlanta Falcons (football), Atlanta Hawks (basketball) or Atlanta Thrashers (ice hockey).
The Chattahoochee River offers many watery activities while serious hiking can be found on the Appalachian Trail, an hour's drive from town.

| SHOPPING |
The biggest and best shopping centre in the South...there are 53 indoor malls in and around the city. One of the biggest is the Mall of Georgia with five department stores and more than 225 other shops. For bargain hunters there are five outlet malls, including North Georgia Premium Outlets with the top names and a fun mix of factory stores, major record and book shops, entertainment venues and eateries.
Atlanta's neighbourhoods are great for shopping. Upmarket Buckhead boasts swish Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza alongside galleries, antique stores and restaurants, while Downtown has plenty too.
